Money Making Credit Cards

Some people don’t feel comfortable with credit cards. I understand that. But, because my husband and I have learned to be disciplined in paying them off each month and NOT overspending, we’ve made thousands in bonuses and perks through these money making credit cards.

Before you choose a card, let’s talk about how to manage credit cards well so they can indeed become money making credit cards.

  • TIP 1: Put every expense possible on the credit card. This is the minimum you need to be doing with a credit card. This tip won’t make you a ton of money, but it will add up over time. Credit cards give you cash back for every dollar spent. Some give more points for specific categories.
  • TIP 2: Take advantage of sign-up bonuses. This is where you will get the most back from credit cards. Once you feel comfortable using a credit card and paying it off monthly, take advantage of the bonuses. Most credit cards have a sign-up bonus that looks something like, “get 60,000 points when you spend $2,000 in the first three months.” The amount needed to spend to quality for a bonus is typically doable by just putting your normal monthly expenses on the card, then paying them off. (Reminder: Don’t overspend more than you need to just to reach a bonus faster as this could lead to credit card debt.)
  • TIP 3: Refer your spouse or family member. Most credit cards have a referral bonus. Once you reach the bonus on your own credit card, refer your spouse to the same card. That way, both you and your spouse can make money off one another. (This means DO NOT add them as an authorized user on the first credit card. Instead, add the card to their phone wallet and you can both use it still.)
