How To Become An Amazon Influencer

A step-by-step guide to start making video reviews for Amazon, which requires NO posting or promoting on social media.

So you want to start earning more income for your family? Maybe you love shopping on Amazon and you hope to make it worth it? Or maybe you could just use some extra cash?

Whatever your reasons, becoming an Amazon Influencer changed our game as we considered what side hustles could fund our travels all around the country.

Not only have we reviewed our own Amazon purchases, but we’ve also begun reviewing items we find and use at Airbnb locations we’ve stayed at throughout our travels. There’s truly no end to the number of things found on Amazon… which means no end to making money through reviews!

Here’s my step-by-step guide to how we began earning an income through Amazon video reviews:

In order to qualify to become an Amazon Influencer, you need to at least have a social media account on Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, or Youtube. If using Instagram or Facebook, these accounts need to be *BUSINESS* accounts. However, a regular account with Tiktok or Youtube will do.

(NOTE: We found the most success through Tiktok. If you are not accepted through one social media account, try a different platform. Also, try to use the account with the best engagement. You do not need to have a large following, but it helps if you like or comment on other people’s posts often.)

  1. Create an Amazon account. If you already have one, just use the account you have for normal purchases.
  2. Sign up to become an Amazon Influencer.
  3. During the application process, you will be required to link you social media accounts to qualify as an influencer. (Don’t worry, you will not need to actually post on any of your platforms.)
  4. Wait for acceptance. This could take multiple days.
  5. Once accepted, post three trial videos, then submit those videos for review. Read through the Amazon policies to be sure your videos match the guidelines. (Again, approval could take multiple days.)
    • Your videos should show the product and tell why it’s worth purchasing. (Example: Why did you buy it? Is it useful?)
    • The policies discusses posting an unbiased video with no opinions. As we’ve seen other reviews and made our own videos, we have inserted some opinions or thoughts on the products.
    • Be sure your three trial videos are high quality with clear footage. These will be assessed by Amazon to make sure you will take good enough videos for the program.
  6. If your initial trial videos fail, you need to re-submit a replacement video. This is not a big deal! You may need to re-read the policies, or simply just try a video review for a different product. Continue trying to submit trial videos until accepted.
  7. Once videos are accepted, submit your bank and payment information to ensure you can get paid once your views start generating revenue.
  8. Begin RECORDING! Take video reviews of anything and everything you can find on Amazon. Check out the next section for how to upload and post Amazon review videos.

How to upload and post Amazon review videos:

CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING IN TO THE AMAZON INFLUENCER PROGRAM!

Acceptance is exciting, but it can also be overwhelming when you’re first beginning. Let’s break it down step-by-step to learn how to actually begin making money.

Start by walking around your house looking for items or products on Amazon. This can truly be anything from shoes to furniture to tools, and everything in between.

  • Not sure if a product is on Amazon?? Use the little camera button connected to the search bar in the Amazon app and scan a photo of the item.
  1. Make a master list of every item you plan to review, then make a goal. Start by trying to record 2-3 videos a day. Consistency is key with Amazon Influencers.
  2. Once ready to record, be sure to take a clear video in a well-lit area. Don’t take videos over a minute long as viewers may not enjoy sitting through a lengthy video.
  3. If videoing a product you wear or use, try and be in the video to show how it works. Show the process, describe how it works, and make sure to talk about how this product has worked well for you.
  4. Once you’ve finished taking your video, I’d recommend adding captions as this may increase views. I use Instagram, but you could also try Capcut or Tiktok.
  5. On Amazon, go to Creator Central and click “create content.”
  6. Choose “post” and upload the video. You must tag the specific product you are reviewing. Then, give your product a title.
  7. Click “save” and choose if you’d like to post immediately or schedule out the post for a future date.
    • Once you become an Amazon Influencer, try to post consistently. This bumps your videos up to get more views, and therefore, make more money! This is where scheduling comes into play. You may take seven video reviews in one day, but it’s best to post one each day for the next seven days, versus all seven in one day. Schedule the posts so you don’t have to manually post everyday!

**Note: Each month you get paid two months behind. So if I’m getting paid in May, it’s actually the earnings I made from the month of March. Make sure you have your tax information AND payment method set up for both your storefront and your on-Amazon storefront.

The more you post, the higher your chances have of each amazon review video being viewed. This is incentive to keep on posting! You’ll see payouts for months, even years to come for a single product. And the higher the price of the product you’re reviewing, the higher payout you’ll receive!

GOOD LUCK!
