Basic BLT

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to make a basic BLT. This recipe is so easy that I often make it for dinner when camping or staying in a hotel room.

It’s a classic sandwich for a reason. This basic BLT reminds me of home, even when we’re far away. Sometimes the smallest additions like aioli or avocado slices can bump your regular basic BLT to the next level. Feel free to add your own additions and get creative with this basic BLT recipe.

Here’s how we made it this kitchen classic:

{INGREDIENTS}

8 slices of bread

12 pieces of bacon (Try microwavable bacon when you don’t have a kitchen)

4-8 pieces of lettuce

8 slices of tomato

Optional: mayo, avocado slices, pesto, cream cheese, etc.

{INSTRUCTIONS}

Prepare your bacon by laying pieces out on a plate and microwaving as the package instructs. Slice tomatoes and prepare lettuce. Toast bread. Add butter, mayo, mashed avocado, or any additions you enjoy with a BLT. Assemble sandwiches by laying lettuce, tomatoes, and bacon on top of each other. Finish with another slice of bread and enjoy a thick, filling sandwich!

Making BLT’s isn’t hard, but it’s often a forgotten recipe. Try this basic BLT recipe, or other favorites like Anything Pasta Salad and Simple Chicken Salad for budget-friendly meal options.
