We are finally working our way back up north after a twenty day detour through Florida. From the top to the bottom and all the way through, we drove a total of 30+ hours all around the tropical southern state. And though it’s a little cliché to say, I do believe Florida is one of my favorite places to be. The beachy beauty is unmatched!
Panama City Beach was nothing like I expected… in the best way possible! What I anticipated to be a somewhat trashy spring break city pleasantly surprised me with clear water, kept-up beaches, and so many family-friendly things to do.
Our goal now is to make it up to Kentucky for a national park stop, as well as a few days visiting friends. We chose the perfect route up through Georgia for another stop with our GetOutPass at the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain. Guys, this was truly a one-of-a-kind experience that we would have never known about, let alone paid for, had we not been a part of GetOutPass. Let me share some photos from the literal WILD experience.

How incredible is this? All the feels of a real-life African safari right here in Pine Mountain, Georgia. I didn’t even know something like this existed. And yes, we even saw a lion, though thankfully, he was safely resting in his enclosure. Just another reason to consider if the GetOutPass could be worth it in your area. We’ve also experienced e-biking through Amelia Island, visiting marine creatures at Gulf World, and playing at Gentle Hands Play Space. So many adventures to experience with your family! PLUS, score an extra $5 off your pass with code SOMERSAVES.
Let’s talk a little about the logistics of a six month road trip. I’m not sure exactly what I pictured, but I’ve definitely been shocked at how well the kids are adapting to so much time in the car. DON’T GET ME WRONG, THEY WHINE. And I’ve been losing my patience a lot more than I’d like to admit, especially when sharing small hotel rooms or during hour five in the car. However, the fact that a four-year-old and two-year-old can actually sit in the car for four to six hours at a time, multiple times a week, blows my mind.
Here’s a few things that have helped:
TRAVEL TRAYS – Coloring, matchbox cars, games, snacking, play-doh… they can do ANYTHING on their travel trays. (Christmas gifts from my parents!)
SNACKS – A mix of fun snacks and healthy fruit/veggies to keep their little bodies balanced.
INTERACTIVE GAMES – Trucks and cars that make noise, talking play phones, learning tablet toys, etc.
SHOWS/MOVIES – The Stinky & Dirty Show on Amazon Prime for the win!
BALLOONS – It’s amazing how cool a balloon is, even when strapped in a car seat.
CAR FORTS – Gives the kids their own secret space and gives mommy and daddy “time alone.”

How else do your kiddos stay busy during a long road trip?
One recipe we’ve been loving for a quick and filling breakfast at any Airbnb is my blender pancakes. I whip them up in ten minutes tops and they’re allergen-friendly for my little man with nut/seed/soy allergies. My daughter loves peanut butter melted over her cakes, or enjoy them plain with a drizzle of honey. Just another recipe to add to your frugal food collection!

Slowly but surely, I’m starting to believe this little thing I do on social media could become a business. Teaching others to live frugally is a true passion of mine. Each day, I’m learning about the best grocery stores to shop at, new apps for making cash back, the best brands to seek a partnership with, and like-minded individuals to collaborate with. If you know anyone who is interesting in living more frugally, please share my page and website! I enjoy feedback of any kind, whether constructive criticism or kind compliments. I’m learning new things everyday.
As we venture back up north, the temps will drop, the winter coats will emerge once again, and indoor time may increase. But it’s just a few weeks until we’re heading south once more toward all things red rocks and national parks. We even invested in a hiking backpack off Facebook marketplace in preparation for loads of hiking. Our national park pass will surely come in handy as we travel through Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and beyond!
See ya on the road!
